About CS2 Cases
CS2 weapon cases are containers introduced by Valve Corporation that drop randomly to active players or are purchased on the Steam Community Market. Each case requires a key to unlock. Inside is a single skin drawn from the case's pool at the published rarity probabilities.
Drop rates per Valve's mandatory China-region probability disclosure: Mil-Spec ~79.92%, Restricted ~15.98%, Classified ~3.20%, Covert ~0.64%, and Rare Special (knives or gloves) ~0.26%. Within each rarity tier, every contained skin has equal probability of being selected. The skin is then assigned a random float value within its allowed range, determining its wear condition.
StatTrak™ has approximately a 10% probability on eligible drops, meaning roughly 1 in 10 unlocks of an eligible skin produces a StatTrak™ variant. Souvenir cases are awarded during major tournaments and follow different distribution mechanics — Souvenir variants of skins from the source map's collection are dropped at the case opening.
